Bassett is on the move!

Don Julian, Edgewood Academy, Van Wig and Don Julian Elementary Schools met Safe Harbor goals based on NCLB guidelines for the 11-12 school year.. As a result of meeting Safe Harbor for the past two years, Don Julian is no longer a Program Improvement School. Out of 1,413 schools in California who ended the 2011-12 school year as a Program Improvement Year 5 school, Don Julian was one of only 25 schools who exited PI status as a result of their test scores and meeting safe harbor status for two years in a row. Based on this past year's data, less than 2% of schools in California were able to exit PI status. We are very proud of the model set by Don Julian teachers, principal, staff, parents and community members whose success has been based on hard work, dedication, teamwork and a belief in students.

API scores continue to substantially increase in our district.Edgewood Academy grew 48 points to receive an API score of 828. Don Julian ES grew by 40 points for an overall score of 820. Van Wig grew 31 points to 773.Torch MS grew 37 points to 793.

Torch Middle School has received the prestigious recognition of being named a Schools To Watch-Taking Center Stage School-One of only 32 schools in California.

Project 100 has taken center stage through the leadership of our Board of Education and our Office of Instruction. The Bassett Unified School is committed to 100% reclassification and 100% graduation rate for Bassett USD students. Our district is aligning instruction, services and support to ensure our students will be successful.

English Language Learner support is flourishing in our district. From providing core English Language Development instruction on a daily basis to afterschool and Saturday School, our students are receiving the extra support and attention to help them reclassify.

Parent Engagement is critical to our student’s success.Through our Saturday Parent Institutes, our parents are becoming knowledgeable and engaged advocates for their children.

We have a Board of Education with extremely high expectations for staff, parents and students who as a team will create the conditions for student success.Through their leadership, Bassett will continue to make the gains towards becoming an exemplary school district. We have amazing teachers, dedicated administrators and a caring support staff of certificated and classified employees. In this day and age our district must do everything possible to help our students achieve the goal of being prepared for college and ultimately a career of their choosing. To that end, we are constantly improving our instructional programs and the operations to support the adults who serve our students. The Bassett Unified School District can help you achieve the dreams and hopes you have for your child. Bassett is on the move! Become part of our team!

The Board of Education is the educational policy-making body for the district. To effectively meet the District’s challenges, the Board and Superintendent must function together as a leadership team. To ensure unity among team members, effective operating procedures, or protocols, must be in place. There are general protocols and those that are specific for the Board and for the Superintendent.  Below, are the board adopted protocols and procedures that create the conditions for an effective leadership team.
